water setting..

i know that has been already cover but i wonder how come i get this dark water no matter what setting i am using... even using the setting suggesting recently by fuso
here an example

I'll take a guess it is to do with the faulty Maxwell dielectric materials. I've noticed that reflections (in water) of objects render much darker than the objects themselves. After spending ages trying unsuccessfully to constantly obtain accurate reflections in 'water' I now just postwork any poor reflections.

yes i also think that it has to do with dielettrics and caustics issue ... it seems to me also that things improve using a box ( as big as the water volume) instead of a plane .. anyway somebody manadge to make a good looking water and i wonder how he did

use my water settings just make the diffuse colour brighter.... should be fine

that's what I mean. If u look at my renders you'll see that the water is
pretty dark. That's on purpoe coz I didn't really want to look through.
Also I used a flat surface, not a volume. Give it a go mate.

This is a modest scene I'm messing about with. At present the reflections in the 'water' haven't darkened too much yet. Although they are darker than when all the objects were a simple white diffuse.
The shaped single plane water is a dielectric with a transmitance colour of white (255,255,255), absorbance at 0, a refraction value of 1.33 and abbe number set to 175 with no U/Vroughness used. The inside of the pool is a very pale fawn textured difuse material.
The test version of the 'fountain' uses the same dielectric material too.
