Hi Everyone,
I'm a new used of Maxwell and was quite interested in the free download of Matador Light, I was wondering if anyone knew of some threads about it.... I ran a couple of searches and nothing came up...
My problem is getting a file to load into Matador, I start the render and it writes a scene file but Matador can't seem to open it. Does anyone know what procedure I should be using?
Regards
Mark

Hi, i'm david rossmann from arkadin,
are yo sure that the maxwell path and the library path are correctly defined in matadorlight?
If yes the only thing you can do is to send de file at the mail you find at
www.arkadin.biz so we can check if we have a bug.
thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the responses...
I was under the illusion that Matador worked with a file created by Maxwell and was therefore able to work independantly of the original 3D application. A major reason for using maxwell is that I can render straight from Rhino 3D, without having to mess around exporting my polygons... My models will change constantly as they develop and exporting is a real pain in the bum and becomes very time consuming.
Are there any plans to increase the number of file types that Matador can handle? Or shall I wait for Maxwell to introduce their own materials editor?
Regards

Yes, xsi but only polygonal data.
Anyway from Rhino you can import to RemoteMatador LWO and 3DS.
The nurbs conversion issue is a big problem...
Just now i recived from a client a 200MB Rhino file for only 300.000 polygons. The same file converted to polygons is 9MB. No curved nurbs surfaces in the scene, only flat nurbs surfaces....The first file takes in Rhino about 5 minutes to open, in lightwave i can open the polygon file in 10 seconds.

daros,
fantastic to hear that XSI poly data will be on the import list. Any ideas as to how long this will take you.
As you can guess I use XSI and MatadorLight is the only way to render with Maxwell. I'd really appreciate the improvement.
