transparent materials?

i just wanted to know how can i make a transparent material, like a thin curtain, i have found now opacity settings in materials and clipmapping doesn't function for that or?

no one answers me, i just want a tipp how to do a nice shinny curtain

i'm using the LW plugin, so the issues with transparenciesw may be different, but try to use gray value TGAs instead of the channel values in the transparency channels. in LW this works with the MXW plastic shader for example (probably best for your curtain material). you should find a thread with this issue here on the forum.

i built a simple set of grayscale TGAs in photoshop for this purpose. use RGB in any case, as grayscale apparently does not work in MXW yet.
