please post your system specs, a description of your scene (emitters used - sky etc, indoor, outdoor), how long its taken to render and what sampling level you've reached and we will be able to tell you if you are doing something wrong or if thats just a typical amount of time for a maxwell render

How long have you set your rendering to render for? If you set it to render for 15 hours then you would see times like your seeing. If it's set to render for 10 minutes then you might have a problem.

What is your main application, in Max all of the fields are clearly defined so you should know that you’re dealing in minutes? 10 in your case would be minutes, and unless you using a lot of Dielectric materials and emitters you shouldn’t have to wait 5 minutes before you get to 1%. Have you read the Maxwell manual that comes with it, if not you should because all of this is very basic and is covered in the book?
