Mr Spock - Test [Rework in progress page 2]

G'day fellow Maxwellians!
I now took the time to take my Mr Spock model into 3dsmax and then put together a couple of quick shaders for it and then i let it render for 9 hours. I know it's super grainy but i just can't get rid of it

sigh.
The background gradient + the moon and the text is ofcourse all done in post afterwards. Nothing else is postworked on the Spock character itself, no noisereduction either.
There are many errors visible in this rendering, several of those are due to the mesh itself, i have to fix those. But i do it later.. it's the blockiness visible in a few places such as the shoulderm around the eye, along the edges and in a few other places. The yellow tiny streaks visible above the eye here are baaaad, they don't look pretty but i suspect those are due to my light emitters which i have 3 of. I'm not sure...
Hope it's ok to post here anyways even tho it looks horrible
Here's my new Maxwell rendering of Mr Spock:

maybe it's grainy because of the SSS used to simulate translucent skin

thanks all of you! i'm happy you people liked it even tho it's riddled with bugs and errors here and there. But considering all the variables in the equation i'm still quite happy with the result
Whiskey: Heh.. who's that ?

Oscar:

that's great! o and btw, this model & rendering serves as a dedication to the NL team for the great work and effort creating Maxwell. If you want the scene i'll email it or something.
Petrucci: Yep u got that right, the SSS generated tons of noise. But that's ok

Pedro: Hehe yea, Mr Spock is one very serious guy but if you ever watched Star Trek you know this too

hehe thanx lots for all your comments
Falcon:

thanks and heh yea if Spock can be called that.. sure
dg: Hehe concrete would do great! but u see the moon next to him.. let's say that's made outta concrete

sherapim:

thanks, and yea i know the major error there with the strange shadow. I'd guess it's a combination of light positions/strength and SSS + polygonal errors in the mesh itself that causes what you see there.
abgrafx: Thanks heh

what started out as a fun speedmodeling excersize for my own good to learn Silo ended up as a pretty neat Spock charicature in the end, actually one of the few models i'm quite happy with.

he's a cool looking character... he he... very nice... improve the hair maybe...
BTW, don't tell me you've never heard of Mireille Mathieu.... she 's (was) a star in France in the 60's.... and she had a Spock haircut...

Mireille Mathieu... hehe
Nice caricature, I think you've got the hold of the major lines defining a general vulcan's head.

And good sss example too. ... And I like the texts most...

Thanx Hervé and Aldaryn
I still haven't heard of Mirelle Mathieu, maybe i'm too young hehe (yea right!) but i planned to fix Spock's hair and face more in Zbrush 2 however my plans went down the drain as my computer failed to handle the complex mesh and then crashed

it would been much better Zbrushed as i wanted to do but o well.. i guess you just can't have it all *sigh*.
Hehe Aldaryn, fun to see you recognize it's actually Spock

i had fun modeling him and it was even more fun to do it without references unless memory counts as reference material. It's quite stylized and lines are pushed to the extremes a bit just to give him that extra bit of cartoonified look. About the texts hehe, i couldn't resist myself

the temptation got just too big to type that in as it fit soooo well with the rest of the image.
Btw, i first thought about writing "To boldly render what no Vulcan has rendered before" but somehow it never got there.. :/

Ok.. i know this is a oldass thread but i didn't feel like starting a new one just for this silly update.
The reason i'm shaking life in this thread again is because i'm remodeling and re-rendering it with 1.1 and i'll post the updates here as work progresses if that's ok..
Model & testrender of the new redone Spock (modeling ain't even close to being finished)
