Magical SSS settings

Hey,

I am using max and maxwell, so far i am impressed and love the render. But i have to say, i am at a lost as to how you all get sss to work with some decent results.. Now it could just be me, but it seems to be poorly implimented and the adjustment settings make no sence to me. example, having a low absorbtion of 0.1 should give you a nill effect, yet it the sss is over exposed.

my questions, is a are they going to make a more intelligent and accurate sss, so that the controlls seem to work as they indicate. and next, would any of you be willing to share some of your sss settings and scenes.

If any one is interested in tyring the scene that i have already craged to test sss let me know.

Yes, the sss is currently pretty limited. For now, Thomas An made a comprehensive reference chart:

The sss is very sensitive to setting like "scale". Check you scale, or ask Thomas for scene setup.

perhaps i should ask thomas, as i have checked my scale and it seems to be correct. I am using cm as units in max (and yes that is in the unit setup and not the viewport set up) and the maxwell is set accordingly.

thanks for the reply.
