Are 25 samples the level were for sure no noise remains... or did they put it here just like that...?

MAxwell can still be very long at some renders...

this is a render I did... one window.. physical sky + sun only ..
no dielectrics.. curtain has some SSS...

Level 13

Level 14

Level 15

Here I stopped, because I was curious to see at what sample it will clear the noise, so I re-rendered a smaller one, but you can still see noise at level 23.. so here my question :

Is 25 samples a golden number for Maxwell...?

note... I could not s have stopped it before and do a cleaning in Neatimage, because parts of images were still invisible...

I have to say it is a hard test...( almost only bounced light) but indeed in an "working for real" environment, a situation we might have to deal with...

I dont think level 25 is anything special, its just there becouse NL assumed level 25 in most cases is eneugh for any complex situation to be noiseless, and thus its not neccesary to render anything furter than lvl 25.

A while ago, in the gallery someone posted an interior at lvl 26, and even at this hihg level you could spot some noise in the caustics there.

that is what I suspected... fact is , it starts to clean after level 17.. I bet this is why from level 0 to 17 it goes so fast...

ah well....let's see what real improvments will be in version 1.0 in Oktober... he he...

Thanks Aldaryn... dunno, but for some reason , your Face looks familiar...

:) Hmm, well, I've never been to Luxemburg...

Btw, to advance from one sapling level to another, it takes about twice as much time, that the previous increse took, and this means approximately 50% less noise than the current solution. So, the noise diasappears more and more slowly, as time advances.

I can only hope NL will manage to add some more speed to the base core. :)
