Scratches in big scale images

Hallo,

here a part of an image in the size 2560x1920. I some parts I get scratches. Should I send the Maxwell scene file to NL? Scene: MXI Sphere.

hmmm.... seems like a disk cache or I/O issue.

I think your OS is WinXP and it doesn't allow any single file more then 4 GB, so the temporary MXL file may be insufficient. I'm not sure.

Yes, I use WinXP. My HDD are very full now, so a temporary file could only less than 1 GB. I have used the -hd option. Is the temporary file visible somewhere?

The dragon is a Stanford scan. I have thought, the black dots are from a too low sampling level (12).

I think, if the reason is the memory, a error message could be good.

In this case there is no problem for 2GB or 4GB limit size files. This image needs about 500 MB of HD. Anyway Micha it is better to free some space in HD to work optimaly.
I think freeing some space makes render work fine. Windows sometimes hangs, crashes or not work properly when space is not enough.

If you repeat the test tell us the results.
