Upgrading the patch = deleting the material ?

Whenever I upgrade with a patch, all material are gone, is it normal ?
I really wanna smash my computer into piece when I saw all the settings are gone, NL should do something to preserve what we have done in the previous ver. :cry:

I had all my previous settings. Thats strange. Is it like that with all of your scenes?

When I re-open the scene, only some of them resume. :?
