I don't understand what's Purple doing here.

Purple is like pink a mix color between blue and red. It doesn't occur in the spectrum at all. It's *not* a spectral color.

The spectral color above blue is violet. This is not riding on words, this is a complete different color. In RGB the closest thing is a blue with a slight red tint in it. However, the pink that is used here is *way* to bright and way to pink.

Talking about too bright: The cyan is too bright as well. That are the reasons why all those pictures don't look natural.

Go outside this evening, watch for a rainbow.

Kabe, I think you're talking about Hue wheel and it's right.
But, visible spectrum is between infrared and ultraviolet...
So, there's purple in the end.

Yes it works, but purple is a color you get by mixing two others, violet is....violet :) It's a color of it's own. At least in the visible light spectrum.

Tip: An easy way to remember/check the spectrum order is:

'Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vein'

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet

I look forward to seeing the new prism tests,
