The price of maxwell render

This program seams fantastic
As I understand
_You can make your own 3D shapes
_It renders them photo realistically
_(The times when it doesn't seams to be down to human error.)
_I also see that is can generate shapes like this
_http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2862
_(The top image, this could be great for sand in a desert)
_Deal with liquid dynamics and rigid body physics to make animations.
_It optimises the render to make it simpler for you so you can
_concentrate on your complex geometry and surface properties.

However it cost

$ 995 (£546)

As revolutionery as maxwell is does enyone else find this a bit steep?

Edit: Ignore that, read my next post further down.

Maxwell can not generate shapes its only a render engine.
Maxwell is different from other render engines because it
uses simulated radio waves to simulate reality.
Check out the prices for other engines: Mental Ray, Renderman, Brazil
and then you can come back and tell every body here if you still think Maxwell is expensive.
Ok Maxwell is not finished yet but eventually it will be a production render.

This piece of software is fantastic but you don't seem to have a grasp of what it actually is.
It's def worth the money imho !

Here

Ok I suck and got it wrong
Maxwell is just a render engine.
I will take your words that it is good value for money
It just seemed expensive.

I agree that it is the best render avalable.

If I were to buy maxwell it would cost more than all other software I've ever bought added togeter.

No, as I don't own any software for creating objects (like Maya or Xsi)
I thought it did more (see the top post).

btw. I use a pc (windows xp)
