Weird error, haven't heard anyone else mention this before. But it sounds almost like your computer is messed up..

Yess, hot processor...

Temperature in my Pentiun IV 3,4HT last night with maxwell:

CPU: 85ºC
VGA: 67ºC
(measured with Lavalys Everest Home edition)
http://www.lavalys.com/products.php?lang=en

This causes constant computer restart. This is due to a very bad freezer over CPU (and very slow), i have to change it.

Omg lol no wonder then it shutsdown and reboots. Fix that heating issue before your processor turns into a pool of liquid transistors :)
And your graphics card will surely have a shorter lifespan if things run that hot in your box.

I get the same thing. Every thing I render crashes at sample level 9.

Not the comp tho' that carries on just fine, lvl 9 appears and Dr. Watson pops up, says mxcl.exe has done something or other it shouldn't have and now its getting a slap on the wrist and told to stop.

Since I installed the beta, this occurs regardless of resolution or complexity.

And no it definately is NOT a temperature issue.

I'm running on Windows 2000 SP4. Marspig, What OS are you on.

2.5 oc 3.6?

Hey, you can't do that without risking serious data corruption, probably even *with* proper cooling. When rendering, the processor is running at full load over hours. It needs a stable system to do that. An overclocked processor might work as long as it uses it's power only in short bursts, but nearly 50% overclocking can't work continiously.

My computer shop have changed me the CPU cooling system, and this is the new measure in CPU:

Maxwell not working (20%CPU): 42ºC :)
Maxwell working (CPU 100%): 52ºC :P

Note: my CPU is not overclocked, the main lack is a very very bad cooling system for intensive CPU work. I think this kind of PC is ready for home use / semi-profesional use, but not for 100%CPU/24h rendering use. (At least with this kind of cooling system).

I have 7 fans inside my comp... some pretty big... lotsa noise... but since I have had an "acouphène" (there for the rest of my life), it does not bother me at all....
