Hi guys this is a newbe question.
I have viz plug-in from maxwell and no matter what I do I am unable to display map in maxwell. Maps looks fine in viz but when I start maxwell only the color is display. What am I doing wrong? I saw all your wonderfull images and I just wonder why I can't get a simple checker board to display correctly.
Thanks for your help.

wagurto... I hope that you know that you have to use the maxwell material palette. Then create proper UVW mappings for your objects and
place the texture files in your channels for colour or whatever. If you go to your texture file tab switch the harware texturing display on for the texure
itself rather than the material... it's not supported yet... Good luck!

Fuso. thank you for the pointers buy i was not aware of that. Is there any tutorail or guide lines on how to map materials? Does maxwell come with textures, maps or images to use? where are they? I know that I was missing something.
thanks

I have reviewed all maxwell documantation, help files, tutorials, and forums, and there is no single indication of how to apply a simple bitmap image to a material. I have been in many different forums and in none of them I have seen that much indiffernce to a begginers questions, yes of course there is a tons of information on phiscys, photography, lighting an all that stuff but nothing about of how to place a mapping.
Well I think my only chance here is to write to the NL and wait for the busy guys to take care of my sally questions.
thanks anyway.

Thanks Rayman for your answer, but that exactly what I have been doing, I start with a maxwell materials like maxwell difusse then I load a bit map from the viz library like wood or concrete, I apply it to my object I make sure that the UV mapping coordinates look fine. Although in viz materials preview looks fine to me. when I render with maxwell that I got is only the color of the map. What I am missing? Can somebody tell me?
thanks again

Rayman, thanks again but the simple scene was created fresh in viz and render in maxwell beta. But there must be somthing else because the same thing happen to me in alpha version too. Since I got maxwell I am Unable to display a single map in my scenes. That's why I am complaining about lack of documentation.

What kind of bitmaps are they? Safest format to use with Maxwell at the moment is 24 bit jpg. Convert all your textures to that and try again.
Btw to directly link the pics in the post, after you've uploaded them to imageshack, you get several links. Use the top one they give you, the one that starts with [URL
just copy/paste that into your post, no need to use the img tags because they are already in the link provided to you by imageshack.

Thanks, I am using the map that comes with ViZ (THE ARCHMAPS).
I not sure that are 24 bit jpg. I know that are jpgs.

a max's zipped archive would do. doesn't have to be a complex scene, just a stripped version that clearly shows the problem you're having.

post it in max format.
have you tried creating a fresh 24 bit in your image editing software and tried rendering with just that texture in the scene?

doesn't your isp provide you with some webspace? either use that, upload your file, post the link here, or upload it to a file sharing webpage, search google for "file sharing". ex rapidshare

I finally found how to attach my sample file. It is a very simple max file but I can't get the maps to display correctly. I hope some bosy can find my problem and help me to move on with maxwell.
Here is the link to the file
