If you got snow leopard, I'd go for Win7 64
if not, then vista 64 (since the bootcamp there has no win7 driver)

I had a 30% speed improvement by using Linux (latest ubuntu) 64bit last week compared to winxp 32 on same rendering/system.
measured on multiple SL's.. not just on one point.

on a quad core Q6700

Actually i tried 7 linux distro's... on some maxwell didn't work at all (latest Fedora and one other... hmm cant remember)

If only there was a version of Cinema 4D for linux.
(some say there is a production version of C4D for linux.. hmm.. wish i could buy it)

and i wish... there was a version 2 of Maxwell.. hehe :)

So Nicole, how many days left? :p
or as we say in Holland "hedde um al bijna kloar?" ;-)

and its free...
i really like linux, I used to work alot with it around 8 years ago.
It handles memory/hd's/cpu so nice. speed improvement everywhere, network speed, copy file on hd speed, uptime (you can have it on for years).

Ill be doing some network testing on linux when i find some spare time.

But I think for render nodes it would be perfect, but as main os.. you still probably need some windows somewhere in your room.
Thats the law bill gave us ;)

And how long does it take to work it out how to use it, how to configure and so on? It's years since the last look I had on linux. nice to see, but far too much work to have it running. Even though win might not be the best - I prefer it for everyday working as I know how to get the result I want without having to mount and unmount drives if I want to use the DVD-ROM or just want it to eject the DVD.... how is it atm? just like win or mac os?
