					Is this rendered from studio?
I've had similar hairy renders rendering from studio! I had to close the file and re-open a few times to get it to fix!

Make sure you use only low poly emitters.

Are you using emitter geometry with more than 4 sided polygons?

I'm using simple poly cubes for emitters. Perhaps I should use planes? I'm not using studio, I'm using the maya plugin.

Yes, planes are the best choice for faster clearing renders, but I don't think cube emitters will cause the problem you have shown.

do you have some reflectors / diffusors below the emitter?
Can you show me a wireframe of the geometry of the emitters and how they are emiiting?
thanks
