better way to do white translucent glass?

I've tried a couple of times to get a decent white translucent (milky) glass...can not find anything particularly suitable on the MXM site, although the opaline glass looks like I should try that, but maybe my whole approach is uneducated...i.e. "wrong". First, I obviously have some geometry issues (black spots) that I'll need to address. I used a frosted glass and reduced the transparency, then assigned an emitter to the glass itself (using C4D plugin). Behind the glass I have a triangle emitter pointing slightly away from the wall to get light shining out the top...but it is creating a hot spot.
By the way...no materials assigned yet.
Any suggestions for improving the illuminated glass would be greatly appreciated.
