Why does HDRI look blurry in the background / reflections?

Hey guys,

I am using dosch hdri for renders and they look blurry in the background (ie. as a background image in the render) and in reflections.

I am scaling the hdri down to a correct scale for the scene..

Also, is there a specific HDRI type i should use? ie. light probe. spherical etc.

A last issue..is it a general rule to set hdri intensity to around 10 to get accurate reflections? Cause i've rendered with hdri intensity set to default 1 and u barely see anything.

if you want to render you background with HDR straight from maxwell, you need at least 6000px wide long/lat. files.. smaller ones are meant for illumination purposes only. ( or if you render tiny images)

If your hdri comes with a high res "backplate" use that in the background channel, screen mapped.

Using an hdri for illumination AND background requires a high res hdri (at least the size of your final render).

Also check your focus and f/stop settings, the background might be blurry because of DOF.
