I am trying to recreate this kettle,

as you can see in the pic, there is a light that lights up how much water is in the kettle. I cannot seem to make this work. I have modeled a piece of plastic, and a resevour for the water, put a light in the bottom where it exists in the kettle, but cannot get it to light up like this...
Any suggestions?

Try using an SSS material instead with a pretty low scattering and absorption. You can start with one of the presets, for example the Polyurethane and change the hue of the colors.

A creative mxi would be the quickest way.

Create a texture for that area instead of modeling it, then convert it to mxi so that it will emit light.

It's really a shortcut. I always prefer modeling before texturing, but in this case it might look ok.
