Hi,

First question - is it possible with displacement to create something that looks like this:

http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Ar ... f_Full.jpg

Second, I'm having trouble getting polished chrome parts to look 'bright' after I composite them onto a white background. Every environment I through at them makes them look too dark, and if I put to much light into the scene then the highlights wash out into the white background after compositing. It's like a nasty catch-22.

TIA

Displacement "lifts" the geometry to z axis.... straight up to Z axis... what you show here has to be modeled...

Thanks guys,

For these rendering I have neither time nor budget to model incidental props like this - I'll have to find something close or do without. I think getting something like that from scratch to render realisticlly could take a long time!

I don't do much modeling but I think a NURBS app is more suitable for this kind of objects
render engines and Maxwell

well I don't think AI will remain like it is now. […]
