I tried to install Ubunto 64 on one of my machine , to see if possible to render big heavy scenes there (that I cannot render on XP 32 bit). The scene loads, but where XP crashed ubunto just finished the render after 3 seconds.... the computer has 4Gb ram. is it memory problems or what ? the scene is heavy at 700 Mb.

700 MB for an .mxs are quite a lot...are you using Multilight?
If so try without it and see if it's a scene issue or if on the contrary is something related to RAM usage

no multilight, it's a pharmacy loaded with small perfume bottles etc. ..... that's why the scene is so heavy.

Does it crash without using the textures?

OK, Ubuntu also stops after 3 seconds without textures. What about XP? Does it also crash without textures? If you can send me the texture-free version of the MXS (as 7Z / RAR / ZIP), I will check here.

XP 32 bit cannot render this and I don't have XP 64.... anyway I managed to finish it with only 2 64 bit PC so the texture-free was deleted....

Well, it's nice to hear you found a workaround and completed the job. But, as this is a bug report we'll need the scene (without textures if possible). Or, if you're sure it was crashing due to insufficient memory we can ignore this report because crashes due to insufficient memory is unavoidable.

I'll see if I have the time to find the files. I think it may be memory handling in ubuntu since I'm not used to that OS and installed it myself.
