Hello:

Pushing up against a deadline and MXS file I try to open in studio crashes studio when loading data.

I have reinstalled studio and it did not help. I have tried loading old files and same problem on some but not all.

File opens fine in MXCL. It is a large multilight file— 353 MB MXS. I have 8 gigs ram in machine.

MAC os X 10.5.4

Maxwell studio 1.7.1

form Z plug in

Any help is appreciated. Slight panic setting in...

Thanks,

Gary

I'm not familiar with the FormZ plugin. Are you performing actions in MXST that are not available in FormZ? Why not render from the plugin? Can you try re-exporting the MXS file from the plugin?

That's a huge file, are you using MXST 64 bit. (Probably a stupid question, but needs to be asked...)

I saw that a new FormZ plugin was released. Are you using it, and if so can you revert back to the last one?

Some bad RAM?

Running out of RAM?

I hope you get it solved!

Thanks for the tips— no solution yet.

I am only trying to use studio to do a clean Pack and Go so I can upload to a renderfarm.

Am running the new plug in and will try reverting. Am not running out of ram...

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary,

I'm almost sure that your issue is related to the video driver( I've experienced that problems before). I have seem that you are running 10.5.4 but the last mac osx build is 10.5.6, so I think that if you update to 10.5.6 problems will disappear. Are you using Nvidia's graphic card?. I recommend you always update mac osx because the graphic drivers are within that updates.

Hope that makes sense,

José

Good tip, thanks.

Gary, I was having the same kind of issue not too long ago. (oddly enough it happened in the evening on a Friday as well)

I just deployed the mxs that opened fine in mxcl and had to put all image maps in same directory..... painstaking, but it met deadline. I feel your pain.

Just a follow up to the problems I was experiencing—

1. the sole reason I was wanting to open the MXS in studio was to do a pack and go, as I was then uploading the files to a render farm.

2. I ended up manually, carefully, assembling all referenced files/images and was able to render successfully.

3. Having assembled all referenced images, I just tried re-opening the MXS files in studio, now that all referenced files were in the same folder as the MXS (as Rusteberg suggested... thanks). To my surprise, the first 2 MXS files I tried worked. But I have since tried reopening them and others and now only one of them will open???

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

regards,

Gary
