editor preview - no texture

hi guys... got a problem which is a bit disturbing considering the workflow

the title says it all. since i moved form 1.6 o 1.7.1 a got this problem.

when i have a material with a texture base (e.g. an arroway texture) there is no preview of that texture in the c4d editor - just a blank colour is shown...

so its hard to scale the texture for your use - because you always have to guess and do some testrenderings

is this the way it should be now or is there some way to switch it?
(textures preview in c4d is switched on!)

thanks for help

Hi shen, sorry I missed this thread - might be better to post about issues with the cinema plugin (I assume that's what this is) over in the cinema forum. Which version of the plugin are you using? Also, which version of cinema, and which OS?

All right, I can also test here on R10.5, XP 32bit. Seems to be working fine, so let me know what happens when you do the following:

1. open Cinema
2. create a cube
3. Plugins > Maxwell > Material Editor
4. Material Editor menu > Create > From MXM
5. select 'boards-01.mxm', for example
6. drag the material from the Cinema Material Manager onto the cube

Here, I see the Reflectance 0 texture from the material's first BSDF shown on the cube. If you don't, then:

7. open the Material Editor (if it is closed)
8. select 'boards-01' in the Cinema Material Manager
9. click the 'Active Texture' dropdown button (it's under the material preview)
10. select one of the textures shown there
11. the selected texture should now be shown on the cube

Does this work for you? If not, where does it fail?

Thanks...

So it seems you can get to step 6, and the texture is then not shown. What about the next steps? Note, step 7 is not referring to MXED, but the plugin's integrated Material Editor.
