Hi

Im curently working on a project and time is of an essence as usal ;)
this image is going to be realy heavy and to be able to speed things up and get as little noise as possible i wonther what is the best solution to go for.
I have done two test renders one with emitters and one with skydome.

It is an interior shoot. But the numbers of benchmark, time and noise makes me confused.

With emitters I have these details
SL:10
Render time: 7m38s
Benchmark: 67
Amount of noise: Less

With Skydome I have these details
SL:10
Render time: 4m57s
Benchmark: 105
Amount of noise: More

How should you recommend I proceed? use HDR?

Thanks

One of the reasons that i want to use emitters is that with skydome it gets to strong threw some windows (empty wholes) and to week threw others like roof windows. is there otherwise some way to adjust this?

In the emitters version are you placing emitters in the windows? Using HDR will probably give more noise than Skydome in this case.

I place the emitters just outside the windows approximately x2 the size of the window. single plane no subdivisions.

Emitters is the way to go. That way you are concentrating the light where you need it instead of all over like with a sky dome.

SL cannot be a comparison criteria among different lighting setups. So, if you compare your example using equal rendertime for both, you will see the skydome render has less noise. I can roughly say skydome is faster than anything else. Image Based Lighting is faster than emitters but most of the time slower than skydome except HDR image is not made of solid color. Physical Sky and emitters come next.
