hi guys... sorry for posting if this questions is allready solved but i got no time for searching the forum for it

after setting up my new pc I decided to move from 1.6 to 1.7 ... so far so good.

after installing to C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell I get this message MAXWELL_ROOT variable not found/set, aborting

I tried other directories - its the same

another thing is that when starting studio or mxm I get the msg The material scene can not be found

other than that mxm appears to be veeeery slow compared to 1.6

any hints or suggestions - dont want to be hooked up on vray all the time :D

greets

You installed 1.7 and then the 1.7.1 patch?

It looks like something went wrong with the install on your machine. You can add that variable manually from System>Advanced>Environment variables. Add a variable called MAXWELL_ROOT with the value C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell

hi mihai

I downloaded the recent maxwell .exe (1.7.1 -win32)

should be no problem...

got to check the variables.

do you have a clue on the missing material preview scene ?

thanks in advance

It's probably due to the same thing, the missing variable. But did you install first 1.7 and then the 1.7.1 patch? You need to do this, the patch is not enough to upgrade from 1.6 to 1.7.1.

I'm aware of that ;)

there's a full 1.7.1 version that can be downloaded ... form nothing to 1.7.1 that is what I've done...

Did you add a variable for both system and user?

thanks for help ... everything works now...

I just did it for the user - but that wasnt the problem, thast enough...

I had the value "programe files" instead of "programme" ( I work on a german system) that lead to the error that maxwell was found but mxm wasn't

after correcting that everythin is working in fine order ...

your always a great ... thx mihai
