Hi guys,
i searched in previous posts, but i found no news about IES simulation.
Now a have a series of new projects based on IES illumination. This beacause my client.. is a lamp producer, and he wants to have photorealistic renders with his various kind of spot light beam.

Simulating light beams by recreating perfect geometry of projector, chromed deflectors and so on it is very long and has huge render time (an noisy results).

i know that maxwell approch about emitters is different..but... light industry has IES standard to simulate. (AND I DON'T WANT USE OTHER UNBIASED RENDER ENGINES).

will be (in future) added IES feature? now i'm forced to use mental ray to solve those renders :( :( :( :(

tx

Ciao
Luca

I've been in the same situation as you, I was doing some renders for a lamp producer who had pretty special rasters to create different lightning from an armature.

Actually I modeled everything in detail, used the correct reflection value for the reflector etc, and it worked pretty good... Of course it took some while to render, but with a few computer it was easily rendered during night.

If you have 100 lamps to render there could be a problem though...

right.... in scene number one, "the hall+meeting rooms behid glasses" has 150 lamps.. using 5 different kind of beams... :|

That could be a problem yes :)
