JPEG's as background images (not hdri's)

I'm having trouble getting any JPEG image to be used as a background in Maxwell Render. I am using FORM.Z 6.6 as the modeler and I have the Maxwell Plugin for Form.Z. When I go into the Maxwell Display properties of FORM.Z, I set my path to find the JPEG to use as the background image. But within Maxwell, the rendering uses that generic Maxwell blue-ish background. Not sure what the problem is. Thanks!

Open the file in Studio, open the environment panel and see if the background channel is disabled. For the environment lighting though you have to use .hdr, .mxi or .exr file formats. Jpg won't work.

But is there any way you can use JPG's as background images?
I'm always rendering alphas atm and add the background after the rendering is done. The HDR files are good for the reflection and refraction channel, but often pretty useless when it comes to the background channel

Background Channel is not disabled - it is checked in the box. Still no background image.
