I currently have 1.7.0 installed on my machine. I down loaded the new 1.7.1 update. Is this a patch or a new full version install? Do I need to uninstall my existing version or is this an update to my existing installation of 1.7.0?

depends on whether you downloaded the patch or the full install, there were both options when i downloaded mine, only takes 2 minutes to uninstall reinstall a new version.

But be sure you safecopy your licensefile to another place first BEFORE you uninstall your current Maxwell version or else you will most likely loose it.

I lost one of my two licenses by making this stupid mistake.

You only need to install the patch if you have 1.7.0 already installed. No need to uninstall anything.

I downloaded the patch so I treated as such. I installed without un-installing and it updated my current version. Everything seems fine.
