SSS question

I just managed to render a few images to test the new maxwell features.

I have one question related to SSS materials.

The following image shows a car key render. I used the new SSS material and experimented till i got reasonable results.

My problem is the white spots, you see mainly at the very top. It is more obvious on the preview panel of maxwell (bottom left image)
Does it have to do with my SSS settings? (bottom right image).

Thanks

Mark

Those are reflections of the emitter/sun and some caustic light. Don't mind too much the preview image in this case, it's using the RS0 preview engine. You could increase the scattering if you want the material to look less transparent. Lower the ND so the surface is less reflective, about 1.5 max. 1.2-1.3 would be enough for this material I think.

Thanks Mihai.

For sure the material is not perfect but I'm working on it.
It is too transparent as you noticed.
I will try to follow your suggestion (increase scaterring) but I can also try increasing the roughness. That should make it less transparent, and closer to the real thing.

Thanks again
