Core2 vs Dual Quad 2.66 Very little difference. Why?

Core2 2.66 (x32)= SL9 in 5min
Dual Quads (x64)=SL11 in 5min
Why?
Thanks!
PS-Comparatively the difference in the 2 machines with Vray is HUGE!

The S.L. system is exponential. S.L. 11 is MUCH higher than S.L. 9.
Why don't you do a comparison on how long it takes each computer to reach S.L. 11?

Sampling level is not linear. It means the improvement from SL7 to SL9 is not the same with SL9 to SL11. Each sample requires more time to reach. In other words, if you render using Core2 until SL11 you will see the difference in time. It will take much more than 5 mins.

I knew that the sampling level is exponential but admittedly I hadn't considered rendering both to the same sample level. Duh.
Thanks guys!
