Hi, all.

I've tested this with sunlightrocker's great tutorial.

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... 046#175046

but why I can't see the projected image on mirror?

Image

The box of the center is a projector ( )

Plan on the right side has mirror material.

Is this physically correct?

Is the light being projected through glass - if so, I don't think that Maxwell can render caustics in reflections?

That's very interesting.

I think it's closer to the camera so it is not in the frame (in the mirror). An optical illusion.

Hmm...try turning the projector, so that it would project the light on the mirror and reflect it back on the wall. I wonder if the reflection will be seen on the wall. It might give a clue if it is light that can't be reflected or it is actually the mirror that doesn't reflect the light.

yeah--didn't think of that…I was pretty distressed and perplexed at the thought though

Next Limit, wanna comment on this? It's keeping me up at night. If I had the patience/time to model a projector setup, I'd test it too.

Sandy, could you post the scene?

I still think that if the image is being projected through glass it becomes a caustic which isn't going to be seen in reflections. This is a possible known restriction but it would be nice for Next Limit to comment.

lebbeus, here is the scene, but it's not exactly the same with above image because that scene is just for test.
http://rapidshare.com/files/138200841/project.rar.html

There are two files in it : one is a mxs file and another is a max file.

And there are still a bug in 3dsmax plugin.
When you open the max file and export it to mxs file and open it in Mst, you can find some object is in unexpected position.
