You're too quick Patrik, I was about to post the following:

Hi everyone,

Hereby some info about the upcoming release of Maxwell Render 1.5! Yes, you are reading it right: Maxwell Render 1.5!!!!

Why 1.5?

I am sure many of you will be asking why this release is labelled “1.5”. It’s simple: this is a very important upgrade from Maxwell Render 1.1 on many levels, and this release deserves to be positioned accordingly. “1.2” just doesn’t underline the significance of this release.

Many parts of Maxwell Render have been improved and re-written. The core Render Engine has seen key enhancements in some of the most important parts. Maxwell Studio and the Maxwell Material Editor have been re-written from scratch. The feature list has been extended and improved, including more and more innovative features, and new plug-ins. Huge optimizations have been made in memory handling, and the performance, stability and usability have all been enhanced. Pricing has been maintained but we have radically changed the licensing policy to embrace current and future hardware trends. Collectively these result in a significant upgrade from 1.1 and we are proud to name this version Maxwell Render 1.5.

Naturally, this will be a FREE upgrade for existing Maxwell Render users. If you would like to see an overview of feature announcements that have already been made, please visit www.maxwellrender.com.

Next week I will inform you about our new licensing policy and I will give you a more detailed features list. Stay tuned!

Cheers!

Nicole

Hi Nicole and thank you for the info. I have a question, will current mxs scenes be compatible with maxwell 1.5? Existing library of materials and object will be compatible with the new version?
Thanks

... meaning we will have to pay for an upgrade to 2.0 that much sooner....... :?

Why don't you just go ahead and jump to 1.99 and get it over with.

No-no-no!
There should be 0.05 version increments after v1.5!
Just kidding!

20/04/07 > MAXWELL RENDER NEXT VERSION: ANNOUNCEMENTS wrote:...

Plug-ins: All our current plug-ins are compatible with Maxwell Render™ 1.5, and many of them have been further improved. Especially the Lightwave plug-in has seen major optimizations.

The feature list has been extended and improved, including more innovative features for realism and render quality, and new plug-ins.

...
I guess, it's too much to ask for the status of (another) specific plug... like... cinema4d?

P.S.: What are the news in this announcement, besides the fact, that three releases are being jumped (1.2, 1.3, 1.4)... I can't find anything, that has not already been told by the usual suspects?! Am I missing s.th.?

Btw, why does it lead me to http://www.solidthinking.com/products/index.htm, when I click on the maxwell logo on the announcement page? Strange strategy...
