I don't understand. DId you render each scene in the engine labeled? If so, why are they grainy? I've never seen other engines produce grainy results unless the person who setup the render didn't understand the settings. Also, are you suggesting that each one took 20 minutes to render? Can you expand your explanation of the settings for each, machine specs etc.? Thanks.

he probably set the rendering engines for using progressive path-tracing or similar algorithm with caustic and dof and m-blur activated in order to compare them with maxwell, which actually use these methods and effects as the one and only to converge to a correct solution. And since the machine specification and testing condition are the same, it seems pretty fair to have a look to the rendered output quality. just my guess, tho...

the calculation has been activated with,
therefore 4 render at the same time
not arriving to a noise acceptable.

jdp@ ciao johndoe ;)

I gotta admit that busyray is looking pretty darn good. Might be worth buying a licence to play with........

this is actually he first iv'e heard of it. Looks like it's still missing some basics like DOF, but so far it's pretty impressive. I didn't see anything regarding network/cooperative/bucket rendering in the faq... Any idea?

yeah they are still working on the other features (better to focus on some features until you got them nailed then move onto the other features and so on and so forth ), but with all betas its still early. i rem trying the early beta versions and i can say its come along way
im really interested in seeing how far they can take it. download the free version and give it a whirl. plus you can use max's materials which has to be a plus.

Would love to try it out... Actually would love to try anything right now. Just made my move from Bogota, Colombia to DC, and am waiting for my main computer to arrive in the mail - the other's won't get here for a couple of months with the rest of my furniture. I'm stuck with this tiny viao laptop that I truely despise typing on...... :(

I must say that you gotta love people that don't secure their wireless networks. At least I have internet access until I get my cable hookup.... 8)

Welcome to DC!
You should feel right at home soon.
Well, as long as you expect to change countries every few blocks and sometimes several times in the same store or restaraunt.
It's a very international environment.
I wish you luck and good fortune.

Thanks glypticmax! I was actually stationed here six years ago. However, I never really spent any time in the city itself - just commuted between Gainesville and Arlington.

This time around I've got a place in Adams Morgan (very groovy spot), got rid of the car, and plan on spending more time exploring the town. So far I'm really digging it!
