seems to me that sunlight is "colder" than before and sky color changed also.
bump seems also to be really different in strenght

Heres a wip I left cooking last night. Theres still a bit of work to do on the car (so no comments about the dodgy headlights please :D ) but I wanted to give RC5 a whirl. Its a sky dome with 3 reflective panels off camera about 10 hrs render time...Now I just need to work out how to make metalic silver paint!

Cheers.

A little test, not the best to show the improvements but i'm overall quite satisfied with the noise levels of rc5.

Maximus3D: The noise be down to the choice of material. Betas' old plastic could often take a long to clear of noise.

Mm yes well i kinda thought that changed with the new RC so the noise would clear up faster, this is only a plastic material and not dielectric. Those dielectric tests i done actually cleared up faster than this one with plastic did. That's weird..

[Edit:] Here's the screenshot with a brief explanation and arrows pointing out the various parts of the scene.

If your liquid is colored transmittance and isn't showing color, your attenuation is too high.

Maximus, try having only the large emitter, delete the smaller ones, and compare render levels.

is your backdrop set to lambertian?
What material is applied to the bouncers?

I think instead of using bouncers, use large weak emitters (make sure they don't intersect with any other geometry). This way you avoid many indirect bounces which seems to happen in your scene.

Aha! good suggestions there Mihai :) thanks man i'll give it a shot tonight on the scene to see if there'll be any difference. If i remember correctly then yes i had lambertian set for the background. Bouncers are just plain diffuse white, nothing special there.

So lots of indirect bounces causes lots of unwanted noise.. hm :/

Thanks Mihai, i appreciate your tips :)

Can you explain the advantage to the use of lambertian setting over another type?

Thanks.

I think it renders slightly faster, since it's a completely diffuse surface it uses other calculation method than 0-99 roughness.

Lambertian is perfect roughness which equals to 100 and it converges faster than 0-99. It's just like the old diffuse.
