Umm.. if you put them in different places and don't mind changing the Environment Variables, yes.

I have been told that a Mac OSX version is present and functioning, but I have not personally seen this. I've asked for a copy to confirm.

Mike,

Thankyou very much for your efforts in improving communication with the M~R community and for keeping our feet on the ground with regards to what we can expect in the forthcoming release.

Nice to be moving forward again. A couple of questions

1.. Regarding clipmaps, are they a currently disabled RS1+ feature or a RS2 feature? It's not clear from the post.

2.. How many more RC's are there going to be?

3.. Is the V1 release going to include RS2?

4.. If V1 isn't going to include RS2, what features won't V1 support?

Stella effort Mike. Keep up the good work.

1) Clipmaps are very closely related to the stacked layers thing, and are actively being worked on for a solution, because they're decidedly non-physical in a way Maxwell doesn't like to play nice with. But there are some good ideas being tossed around on how to do it!

2) I don't know. Nobody knows.

3) Depends on how far along development goes, but nobody wants to neglect v1.0, so it may be 1.5 or 2.0.

4) There won't be any unsupported features, just some limitations, as described in the post.

Mike...

Will RC5 work with the lightwave plugin (beta or rcx versions) or come with a new one?

.lwo files imported into Maxwell Studio with problems. Materials had to be segregated by layer in order to assign them in studio with any control (you couldn't have two materials in one layer). I reported this problem (and others) during the last rc period.

Unless this problem is fixed in Maxwell Studio, I would prefer to continue setting up my scene in Lightwave.

So, will RC5 work with Lightwave?

Thanks for the lucid announcement and dedication to this forum of rabblerousers.

Well, since I never ask questions I guess I'll try now.

Mike, Is RC5 a version that is like the other RCs in that it works inside the studio?

What I really am looking to find out is if the previewer is still a part of RC5?

Does the previewer work really fast like the other RCs?

Does the previewer give you a good assesment of the final render?

Also, we at Eden FX ( www.edenfx.com ) have been wanting to use Maxwell in our render farm so we can test it for future use in our full production animation for our TV series. Any info on the network rendering.

Thanks in advace and I apologize if these have been answered already, I haven't checked in for awhile due to being busy.

Thanks for the info in advance.

I'll look into an answer for you (not a LW user, myself).
