Hmm... Are there any ways to subdivide a mesh in Rhino? Basically you need the ground plane to be divided into many equally small parts.

Try rebuild, select the surface and you can then adjust the surface subdivision.

you don't really need to change uvcount to increase meshing precision for nurbs surfaces.... just select the object and enable costom mesh settings in the object properties. and then don't use the slider, but try to understand the values shown in the "detailed controls" popup. there is a good description in the manual how they affect mesh generation.

Thanks...I've adjusted mesh controls in scenes -- the image showing the displacement map, is a refined mesh, so I don't think the mesh density (unless it's too refined) is an issue with what is going on (scalloping or striations in renderings) The scalloping or striations seem to happen when the camera angle moves closer to the horizon.
