I'm afraid I can't post an example due to client confidentiality etc. I'll try and set up a test scene of my own with this trick applied, in the next few days.

It works well, the only drawback is the solid shadow of the glass mxm when sunlight passes through the object.

This method is definitely the way forward for reducing noise - now I just delete everything apart from the front and rear face of the glass, apply glass to the front surface and the colour to the rear and you don't really even need to use AGS.

Cheers Tim.

Plus i found that you can sort of trick the look off SSS by adding an emitter to the back face (if you're struggling to get the right colour - apply the colour to the emitter). Although this is probably common practice, i just don't read up enough on the forum posts.

I've been avoiding this in my scenes for a long time. ... and I think I tested it myself and found it to be true. Maybe Tom or someone else can confirm if it's significant. (Glass objects colliding with non-glass slows down renders).

Also, did you check your materials to see if any are using "super-white" color? over 220 (235?) rgb values.

off topic:
Thinking about how many times this whole topic has come up on these forums makes me wish we had a good Wiki page with all this sort of collective wisdom collated on it. Somebody started one a year or two ago ( http://www.solidengineering.co.nz/publi ... =Main_Page ) and it just never took off. So then we see the same questions over and over again.
