thanks tom, even though i'm afraid i'll have to go through that equation thingy at least a couple of times more. but this one i got:

With all these discussions where an inverted map is required (clip mapping, transitional materials, etc.) would it be possible to include an 'invert map' button so we don't have to physically create them all the time? It would save a lot of labor in the long run....

Exactly! ;) We plan Invert buttons and sharing of loaded textures among channels.

Exactly, of late all these new features are stretching the time it takes to prepare a scene for rendering, an argument maxwell users had against other renderers, so its good to hear tedious tasks will be shortened with the click of a button. I dont want to spend hours setting up my scene like i do with mental ray and vray. So the functionality when introducing new features is obviously being addressd ..cool

agree and thank you tom.

I want invert-button and clone with sharing into 'texture manager' which other 3D application is equipped with.
It is more better if control is usable :)
at least, I tired searching for texture whenever I push a Material editor's button.
Because plug-ins does not work in my environment now.

Wonderful Tom!

If you are able to tell us...

Will we also be able to do other modifications to maps within the material editor, like adjust contrast, brightness, intensity, etc (similar to what can be done within 3dsMax)? This would also be a major improvement.

I cant tell how many times I've had to re-adjust a map in Photoshop over and over again for it to give me the results I want in the render. To be able to make these sorts of adjustments within the material editor would be a true god-send.

Since I'm sort of already on the subject....

Could we also get drag and drop capabilities for maps (both droping an image file on a map button from explorer, as well as button from button (with copy or instance options).

Another thing: It would be nice if the material editor would remember what the last file directory was accessed. It's a pain to have to keep navigating to your map directory from root every single time...

Thanks!
