Hi and welcome to the forum & to the world of Maxwell Render :)

You have to use Maxwell's own shaders for your objects, but there's a workaround in progress on that subject now and vansan is working on a script for 3dsmax and it converts the scanline materials to Maxwell Render shaders. Here's the link http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4467

Funny thing is there was a DOF file that I think Mihai posted and I tried it out. The mats in that were standard max materials and it rendered fine so I'm all confused

I think NorthernForm was maybe talking about Max procedural materials, that effectively don't work :cry:
