I have an IES file from Zumtobel that I need to use for my actual project.

How do I need to refine it to make it work?

(here you can find it to have a look)

Try this.

I opened your file in Notepad2 (http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html) and used the Edit > Block > Compress Whitespace command.
