I coudn't find anything with the search function ...
What causes black bars on your rendering to appear?

I had an old v.1.7 glass texture that created lots of bright caustic spots. With scattering turned on the render was unusable because of those spots, with scattering turned off I got black bars across my renders. Replacing the faulty texture fixed my problem. Perhaps you also have a texture that needs re-doing?

yeah, it must have been one texture. I swapped them all with new ones and now it worked.
sorry, don't have an image saved. but i'll post one, the next time it happens again

black bars can appear if you have materials with multi layer set in additive mode without a layer in normal mode.

Really? I haven't ever seen that one. I was under the impression that Maxwell automatically treats the bottom layer as "Normal".

It happens with this setting :

If I turn the bottom layer to normal : no more black bars.
