Matte material hides objects from camera

As written in the subject, when a Maxwell material gets 'matte' attribute, it becomes hidden from camera. This is not an intended behavior for most of composition workflows.

ADDED: and when a material is set to 'matte' it can no longer catch shadows ('shadows' option is ignored)

Sorry, I am new to posting here, maybe I didn't get the process of reporting bugs right. Are the bugs that I reported here confirmed? Do I need to make some screenshots or add a more detailed explanation?

When using the matte option the object with that material applied will become invisible and will punch a hole through the whole scene, showing what ever background you have set up (IBL, Sky, black). This is the way it worked before, how would you like it to be used?

Mihai, thanks for answering. Let me explain what I mean.

Here's a simple scene:

Here's what I get if I assign my ground plane material "matte" and "shadow" options:

Ground plane is not reflecting, sphere is lit from its bottom. Shadow option is ignored.

Here's what I need:

Ground plane is reflecting (if I don't need it, I can always turn "invisible to camera" setting on), shadows are catched.

Mihai,

I am not sure why don't you respond to my last message. Anyway, I asked my friend working with Maxwell 1.7.1 to do the same test for me. It worked the way I expected on 1.7.1. And there's a bug in 2.0.

Here's the 1.7.1 result (the sphere does reflect a textured plane that has "matte" option checked).

Sorry Andrey, I didn't see your new message. The matte channel issue is indeed a bug and the plane should be visible in reflections.

Thank you!

Hope to see a fix in the next update. Now it requires much more time in our pipeline to get a needed composition.
