I'm a SketchUp user so I use Studio to place all of my high poly objects (trees and cars). I've run into the same minor annoyance with 1.7 and 2.0. Often times after you clone an object and then go to move the clone the object will quickly jump off the screen (almost as if for every cm you move your gizmo your object is moving 100m and often not even in the same direction you're pulling it. The fix, I've found, is to Undo which brings the object back to its original position and the next time you move it, it always moves properly.

Brodie, I have had issues with the same thing, my solution is clone the object, and move the original not the clone, works.

OK, I'm importing a primitive cube, cloning and moving it comfortably. Can you?
Could you send a simple scene having an object which fails when I clone?

I have found the same issue...cloned object jumps, I do what Brett suggested, move the original. I'm using Studio on OSX. BTW, I'm cloning a primitive -- 4 x 4 panel which has a rotation value in X of 90.

I just tried to duplicate the issue in a new scene and with the scene in which it happened -- no luck.
