Hi everyone,
Did this Diaphragm test last night and found out something interesting; here are the results:

#1 - CIRCULAR; number of blades: -
Image
RESULT:No problem here.

#2 - POLYGONAL; number of blades: 3
Image
RESULT:No problem here, too.

#3 - POLYGONAL; number of blades: 4
Image
RESULT: Problem: A strange triangle-like poly.

#4 - POLYGONAL; number of blades: 6
Image
RESULT: Problem: A strange triangle-like poly.

#5 - POLYGONAL; number of blades: 12

RESULT: Problem: A strange triangle-like poly.

CONCLUSION: When using 4+ blades, you only get a triangle part of the whole poly. As far as I remeber, there was no problem with that in 1.5. Any ideas?

same things here, using max 2008.
take a look at the images below: this is an outfocused render of a simple flat plane facing camera. the plane has a simple black texture with regular small white dots.

Luca_Studioaltieri,
Nice test. Just one question: did you use MaxwellRender for rendering, or this is a 3dMax render (without use of Maxwell).

ciao m-Que,
i used Maxwell 1.6 to render this scene.

now i'm doing a second test: i'm loading a previous render done with maxwell 1.5 where i had out of focus areas showing clearly "white exagons" (i used 6 blades diaph..).

now i'm going to launch same render with 1.6 to compare same scene 1.5 vs. 1.6: keep tuned

edit reason: too big grammar error! :D

here the result.
as you can see, same scene rendered "a long time far ago in a galaxy far away" with 1.5 gives right exagons, while 1.6 seems to render in wrong way, as we tested in previous posts.
