I know this is trivial in light of all the other core problems, but...
When you save a layout, the settings for the ortho view windows are not saved. they alway re-set to the X-Y plane. These settings should also be displayed in the individual windows so you know what you're looking at.
One thing I'd also like to see is a different way to set these views. Different programs use different coordinate systems. I'd much prefer to see a Top, Bottom, Front, Back, Left, Right option. I think it's much more intuitive.
