texture map error

Hey there,
is there a known issue with texture maps, Maxwell and Mac OSX (apart from the one in the manual relating to .tiff and .png files)?

Some jpg maps seem to work fine while others cause the renderer to stop dead as soon as it starts (I get an "Error: Render failed message").

This with various formats, jpgs, tga etc. all without spaces, hyphens etc. in the path names.

Anyone help?
thanks in advance,

Thomas

Thomas,

There is a known issue with reflection maps in the Mac OSX version of the formZ plugin. You can read about it in the topic "MaxwellZ 0.5.2.0 bug reports".

Is this the problem you are experiencing or is it something else?

Hmm, solved it sort of.
I realised that a folder in the path name had a hyphen as part of the name. Changed this and still nothing.
Then I moved the textures to another folder (further up the "chain" so to speak) resulting in a shorter path .
Seems to work now (well, so far!).

[Note: these were just colour maps, no reflection etc. All in rgb.]

Maybe the length of the texture path is an issue?
Or maybe its one of these "now it works, now it doesn't" bugs!

I'll see if it happens again,
thanks for the responses

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Yes, the paths can be readed wrong in Maxwell. Try to avoid non-standar characters. We are solving this issues.
