Yes, finally we could reproduce it and we will release an update very soon. Please check this link:

There is an easy workaround just removing the unused materials (in the formz surface styles panel, click "Purge"). It should work until we release the update.

Juan

Eek! Solving that problem has created a new one. I now sometimes get solid bright red renders, or lots of red fire-flies or a strange colour cast on the image. It's all a bit random and each time I hit render I seem to get a different result. Any ideas?

Hi Juan

thank you for the update.

The "trg_no_mtl" error has been fixed, but the "red fire flies" still happens.

I've tested it today and it happens when you have a object with an mxm light applied and have Sky Dome selected with the Sun Enabled checked.

Using Macpro 10.5.3, formZ RZ plus 6.5.6, maxwell 1.7 with last plugin (26_jun)

Two more things:

When you click the Refresh Style button of an mxm light it says the "MXM is not valid. Check if this mxm file exists and the path is correct" but the render work fine.

when you click the Edit button (in the surface style, maxwell tab) the mxed app opens and the material settings window show up, if you close the material window and try to edit any material again it switches back to the mxed app but doesn't open the material settings window. You have to quit the mxed app so it will work again.

Hope this helps, I just test this in a new file with two cubes and one plane (with the light mxm) but if you need I can send you the file.

Regards
Paulo

Hi all,

We have updated the formZ plugin for all the platform, this update should fix this "triangle without material issue".

Paulo, you are right, there is a problem with skydome + sun that might generate black dots. There is a workaround just opening the mxs in Studio and launching the render again. We are preparing a new update for next week that should fix this issue and others that have been reported by other users, but we decided to release first this quick update about the triangles without material because it was a workflow killer.

Kind regards,

Juan

Juan-

FYI -- A similar sounding "triangles without materials" also happens with Rhino/Studio.

Object ... has triangles without material bug back again!!!

Purging my unused materials DOES NOT help.

I am running formZ 6.1.2 with the 1.7.1 plugin and 1.7.1 MXCL on XP64.

The only way I can fix it is to copy all of the model elements and all my views (to the clipboard) and paste them into a new file. Uggghhh.

Would it be possible to get .fmz file for testing? I would like to get it for closer inspection. If this is the case please let me know - I will give you my email address so that you can send it.

Thank you.
