Older FormZ models refuse to render

I've opened up some FormZ models (5.5.2) without any textures or MXM material and they refuse to render. Models that rendered in Beta refuse to render in RC5. What's happening?
The models have no complex geometries and if I copy even one simple object from them into a fresh file they refuse to render.
Here's an example of one of the models:

Convert everything to plain objects.
Triangulate ALL faces - uncheck planarity options
Your scene should then render fine using the latest plug-in.
There are some problems with some faces rendering black on Mac/G4, I really hope this will be fixed soon.

Is there a quick way to make every everything a plain object w/ triangulated faces?
What about texture map controls?

select all
click on triangulate button
choose triangulate all faces
click ok when fmZ asks if you want to convert objects to plain
that's it
parametric & uv mapping is best avoided
other projections go to maxwell fine
textures in colour & bump will be transfered to mxs
just take care with file paths
