10 files, 10 errors

I've tried the new plugin with 10 different models, all untextured. Each time I get the same error:

"The mxs file has not been written successfully. Check the geometry of the scene and the texture formats..."

Just me, or is everyone having this issue?

Nik

maybe the problem is with triangulating all the polys? if i'm not wrong, maxwell likes it only triangulated, at least in the last beta version. also, maybe try the object doctor on your geometry.

i had some success, but the plugin is much too slow: the output of the cgtalk fruit bowl scene took around 20 minutes on a 2x2.7 G5 mac... no comment!

no problem here. You should check your geometries (agree with mgroeteke). I was only running into problems such as yours once I used the bend tool...

For tracing back the problem you should start with simple geometries first (if not done so already) and report the status.

Does your .obj export work at least?

I have the same problem. So frustrating.

I just tried triangulating all my geometry in my very simple scene, and got the same error message.

We are investigating which issues are you getting. In our systems the process of writing a mxs file is pretty fast in comparison with older versions of the plugin. For instance, the piano scene of the autodesys website takes a few seconds in being generated and with older plugins it took almost ten minutes. you are talking about this fruit bowl? :

The mxs file takes around one minute in be generated within the plugin in a Dual 2Ghz G5 , 1GB DDR2. It takes less than 30 seconds in load into Studio.

Juan

yes it's this scene. i can confirm, if i set all the materials to a neutral gray matte, then it exports in around a minute on a powermac G5 quad. it now took 13 minutes when i left the materials as they where when imported in formz from a lightwave model (materials did not contain tetxures!). so there seems to be an issue with materials.

Hello Markus,

If you want/can you can send me the fz fruit bowl with to maxwellteach@nextlimit.com. The geometry exporting process is slow when there are textures but it there are not, it should be fast. I will like to take a look to investigate what¡s happening. Thanks a lot.
