When clicking map style (not in front of the app right now but the lefthand button anyway) in the texture dialogue of the FZ app. The Maxwell plugin takes whatever surface style is in FZ and overwrites the .mxm material. You get no warning or any option to save it with a new name or anything. It's seems a dangerous function and compared to the usefulness maybe you should reconsider the button?

I completely agree - there needs to be a test to make sure MXM file is not overwritten by accident. I will include the test in a next version of the plugin.
