Error in Mxs file! - This license is valid only to open mxs files generated with the FormZ plugin"

I have a fully licensed version of maxwell 1.6.1 and used formZ 6.5 and the plugin for everything. This is the message i get when attempting to open a file that is a month or so old. These mxs files were made using formZ 6.5 and Maxwell 1.6 - prior to the update. Some of these mxs files we're subsequently modified and saved in maxwell studio. Currently, a huge number of files fall in this category for me - what is going on?
